Trudie, co-owned by former Supreme Court Justice Alice Robie Resnick, was named best of her breed at national dog show.

Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Alice Robie Resnick was glued to her computer screen during the recent Westminster Kennel Club 138th Annual Dog Show. When the judge picked the German wirehaired pointer that Resnick co-owns as the “best of breed,” she was as proud as any parent could be.

“I was very, very happy because she really deserved to win. She epitomizes the breed,” Resnick said. “To have a dog that is determined by professionals to be the best of the breed makes you feel wonderful.”

Truth Be Told, or Trudie as Resnick and her business partner and the dog’s breeder Lisa Minnick call her, was one of more than 2,000 dogs invited to participate in the show in New York. And while Trudie did not get picked to compete for the best in show title, Resnick said they hope she will be invited back for next year’s Westminster show.

“They’ve never chosen a German wirehaired to win best in show at Westminster,” she said. “If more people knew the breed, they would have them. They are wonderful house dogs.”

Resnick is a longtime dog lover, and while she served on the Ohio Supreme Court she was known to bring in her beagle, Judge, to the court building. She currently shares her home with three dogs, including Trudie’s brother, Jasper.
