A Muskingum County Court judge will take the bench of the Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas.

Gov. John R. Kasich has appointed Judge Eric D. Martin of Zanesville to serve as the probate and juvenile court judge and he will assume office on August 13, 2014.

Martin is replacing Judge Joseph A. Gormley, who retired. He must win in November 2014 to retain the seat for the full term commencing February 9, 2015. Martin had previously announced his candidacy for the position and won the primary election for the post in May.
