New Crawford County Municipal Court Judge Has Familiar Name

The last name is the same, but a different Leuthold will become judge of the Crawford County Municipal Court on March 30.

Gov. John R. Kasich appointed Shane Leuthold to the municipal court bench on Thursday. The previous officeholder, Sean Leuthold, was elected to the Crawford County Common Pleas in November. The Leutholds are brothers.

Shane must win in the November 2015 municipal court general election to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Dec. 31, 2019.

Shane received his bachelor’s degree from Bluffton College and his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law, where he was active on the mock trial team. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio on Nov. 9, 1998.

Past experience includes positions as associate attorney with Kennedy, Purdy, Heoffel and Gernert; partner with Kennedy, Purdy, Heoffel, Gernert, Leuthold & Leuthold; and partner with Leuthold & Leuthold. He owns his own law practice, Leuthold Law Office. In addition, he has served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross and established Lighthouse Homeless Shelter.
