Featured Decision: Court permits search of cellphone app information.
Whether police need a search warrant to obtain information from an online marketplace app is the topic of a recent Supreme Court of Ohio opinion highlighted in the latest “Featured Decision” video.
It shares the Court’s decision in the case of Mamadou Diaw, a man suspected of using the Letgo marketplace app to set up a robbery. He sought to suppress the evidence used against him obtained from Letgo by Columbus police without a search warrant.
The case was argued at an off-site session of the Supreme Court at Monroe Central High School in Monroe County. See this Featured Decision and others on the Supreme Court YouTube channel.
