Justin Kudela is sworn in by Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy as Clerk of the Court.

In a recent swearing-in ceremony, Justin Kudela returned to the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center in his new role as Clerk of the Court.

Kudela began his career as Administrative Staff Attorney for the Second District Court of Appeals before joining the Supreme Court in 2007, where he served as Case Management Counsel until 2021. He then joined the Delaware Municipal Court as a magistrate and the court administrator.

In addition to leading court staff and providing legal advice, Kudela improved efficiency through software he developed during his time in Delaware. His Python-based application allows judges and magistrates to create electronic entries from the bench in seconds rather than minutes, improving both judicial efficiency and the clarity of entries for litigants.

He looks forward to bringing that same spirit of innovation to the Supreme Court, expanding public accessibility through automated services.

Kudela is happy to be back at the Court, which he considers the heart of Ohio's judicial system.
