Public Comment Sought on Proposed Changes to Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio

The Supreme Court of Ohio opened a public comment period on proposed amendments to the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio.

The proposal would make changes to the Rules of Superintendence for Courts of Ohio aimed at enhancing court security and operational standards. These include clarifying the definition of a court facility, establishing mechanisms for adopting security plans and handling emergency closures, and updating requirements for court security plans and officers. The amendments also refine the advisory committee's structure, mandate annual meetings, and emphasize judicial authority in determining security measures. Additionally, they address issues identified in security assessments and convert certain discretionary facility standards into mandatory requirements.

Comments on the proposed amendments should be submitted in writing no later than Dec. 22, 2025, to:
