Supreme Court Names Hilary R. Burgess-Jackson as Chief Compliance Officer

Hilary R. Burgess-Jackson has been named Chief Compliance Officer at the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court of Ohio has created a Chief Compliance Officer position and named Hilary R. Burgess-Jackson to the role. This new function was established to ensure the organization continues to consistently implement best-in-class operational standards and practices.
Burgess-Jackson will lead the identification and development of the program’s structure and operational components. She will partner with the Supreme Court’s legal, finance, technology, communications, and human resources offices to ensure consistent cross-functional alignment on all compliance initiatives.
“The establishment of the Court’s Compliance Program and the Chief Compliance Officer role marks a significant step forward in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of service to the citizens of Ohio,” said Administrative Director Robert W. Horner III. "Burgess-Jackson’s extensive expertise and proven leadership in the compliance universe make her the ideal choice to lead this critical function.”
In this capacity, Burgess-Jackson will create policies and practices designed to drive comprehensive operational excellence. Her responsibilities include conducting regular compliance risk assessments, implementing mitigation strategies, and overseeing internal reviews related to potential compliance issues. She will also monitor regulatory changes and deliver compliance training programs for employees.
Burgess-Jackson brings nearly a decade of complex compliance experience to the Supreme Court. Prior to this appointment, she served as a Senior Compliance Associate at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In that role, she led internal compliance training, assessments, and remediations. Her professional background also encompasses compliance and legal roles within higher education, the insurance industry, and civil litigation defense.
She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Capital University Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ohio State University.
