Supreme Court Event for Future Lawyers Focuses on Well-Being in Legal Profession
Registration is open for the Student to Lawyer Symposium

CLaw students can attend an upcoming event designed to help them make a positive transition to the practice of law.
Cultivating the next generation of attorneys requires a strong working relationship with seasoned professionals in the legal field. That mentorship can offer the necessary guidance for new attorneys to succeed.
The goal of the Supreme Court of Ohio Student to Lawyer Symposium on Oct. 2 is to help students as they transition into the practice of law. This year’s theme focuses on well-being, emotional intelligence, and purpose-driven practice as essential components of professionalism.
Law students and legal professionals will explore what it means to thrive, both professionally and as whole people.
The 2026 program will feature four presentations addressing topics that have become increasingly important in legal practice:
- The role of mentoring and how it can prevent burnout.
- The impact of untreated mental illness on legal professionals.
- Building a professional identity to be proud of.
- Presenting and regulating emotions in the workplace to better serve clients.
This year’s event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is offered in a hybrid format with both virtual and in-person options at the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center. Lunch will be provided for those attending in person at the Supreme Court. The symposium has been approved for 3.25 hours of professional conduct continuing legal education for those who attend the entire event.
Sponsored by the Court’s Commission on Professionalism, the Student to Lawyer Symposium connects law students, law schools, lawyers, law firms, legal organizations, and bar associations at the biennial gatherings.
Participants must register by Sept. 14 to attend. In-person spots are limited.
