Three swearing-in ceremonies have been scheduled for one returning and two new Ohio Supreme Court justices over the next six weeks. There could be a fourth ceremony within that time, depending on when Gov. John Kasich appoints the replacement for retiring Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton.

Here are the dates, times, and locations for administering the oath of office to the justices elected or re-elected in the General Election:

  • Justice-elect Sharon L. Kennedy’s ceremony will be December 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the Supreme Court courtroom at the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center in Columbus.
  • Justice-elect William M. O’Neill’s ceremony will be December 27 at 7 p.m. at the Eighth District Court of Appeals in Cleveland.
  • Justice Terrence O’Donnell’s ceremony will be January 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the Supreme Court courtroom at the Moyer Judicial Center.

All ceremonies will be streamed live over the Internet at sc.ohio.gov. Those held in the Moyer Judicial Center will be broadcast live on The Ohio Channel.

As for Justice Stratton’s replacement, an announcement is expected sometime in December. On November 19, the governor’s office released a list of 13 people who have applied for the position. They include:

  • Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Pat DeWine
  • Clermont County Common Pleas Court Judge Victor M. Haddad
  • Fairfield Municipal Court Judge Joyce A. Campbell
  • Tucker Ellis & West LLP Senior Counsel Thomas W. Coffey
