Governor John R. Kasich has appointed Joshua W. Lanzinger of Toledo to serve as a judge on the Toledo Municipal Court. He replaces Judge Michael R. Goulding, who was appointed to the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas.

Lanzinger, the son of Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger, will assume office on September 16, and must run in the November general election to retain the seat for the full six-year term commencing January 1, 2014.

Lanzinger received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Dayton, earned his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law, and was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio on May 11, 1998. Since 2004, he has served as an assistant attorney general for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

Lanzinger began his law career as an associate for the law firm Anspach, Meeks, Ellenberger in 1998, and served as a member of the U.S. Army from 2002 to 2004. He is also involved in various community and professional organizations in the Toledo area.
