Gov. John Kasich today appointed Cincinnati attorney Carl J. Stich Jr. to the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. Stich fills the vacancy left by Judge Pat DeWine who was elected to the First District Court of Appeals in November.

Stich will need to win in the November 2014 general election if he wishes to serve a full six-year term on the bench that begins January 4, 2015.

Stich joined White, Getgey & Meyer, Co., LPA in 2001, after a long career of serving as a special prosecutor for Ohio and Kentucky, as an associate counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice, as chief of the civil division for the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, and in private practice. Since 2003, he has taught trial practice at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Stich earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He was admitted to the Ohio bar on November 7, 1980.
