New Municipal Judge Appointed

Ashtabula attorney Laura M. DiGiacomo will take over as judge on the Ashtabula Municipal Court on Feb. 17. Gov. John Kasich yesterday appointed her to replace Judge Albert Camplese, who was elected to the Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court, Probate and Juvenile Divisions.

DiGiacomo must win in the November 2015 general election to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Dec. 31, 2019.

"It is with honor that I have accepted the appointment to the seat of the Ashtabula Municipal Court,” DiGiacomo said. “I am thankful for the opportunity that Gov. Kasich has given me. I am humbled by this decision and look forward to continue my public service as the Ashtabula Municipal Court judge."

DiGiacomo received her bachelor of arts in criminal justice from Kent State University and her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law. She previously served as special counsel to the Ashtabula County Children Services Board, as an assistant prosecutor for Ashtabula County, and in private practice.
