Gov. Kasich Appoints First District Judge

A Cincinnati attorney will sit on the bench for the first time as the newest member of the First District Court of Appeals.

Gov. John R. Kasich appointed Peter J. Stautberg to serve as judge beginning April 20. He’s replacing Judge Patrick T. Dinkelacker, who was elected to the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court. Stautberg must win in November 2016 to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Feb. 9, 2019.

Stautberg currently works as an attorney and vice president for Fifth Third Bank. Prior to this, Stautberg served in private practice. He was also a state representative in the General Assembly for the 34th and 27th Ohio House Districts.

Stautberg received his bachelor of arts from Kenyon College, masters of business administration from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, and his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio on Nov. 8, 1993.
