Eighth District Court of Appeals Judge Michelle J. Sheehan today sat in for Justice Judith L. French, who recused herself from Pattiann McAdams v. Mercedes-Benz USA LLC et al., case no. 2018-1667.

The case involves whether a state appeals court that found an SUV owner had opted out of a class-action lawsuit improperly readjudicated a federal court’s decision in the lawsuit.

“My experience was wonderful and it was an honor to sit before the Ohio Supreme Court today,” Judge Sheehan said. “I was beyond thrilled to get the call.”

Judge Sheehan was elected to serve on the appellate bench in 2018. She was an attorney in private practice for more than 25 years.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and her law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.

The Eighth District Court of Appeals serves Cuyahoga County in northern Ohio, and hears cases from county, municipal and common pleas courts, as well as original actions in habeas corpus, mandamus, prohibition, procedendo and quo warranto.
