Summit County Juvenile Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio recently delivered welcome remarks to help celebrate Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Day in Akron.

“It is so encouraging to see so many CASA organizations from across the state gathered here today,” said Judge Teodosio. “I want to commend each of you for your selfless commitment and for taking the opportunity to make such a positive difference in the lives of so many children who need your help.”

Court-appointed special advocates are citizen volunteers, trained as guardians ad litem by the Ohio Supreme Court, CASA, or another provider approved by the local court. CASA volunteers investigate a child’s social and emotional background, make recommendations to the juvenile court regarding dispositions of cases, and monitor children until they no longer are involved in the court system.

The Summit County CASA program is the largest in Ohio, with nearly 300 CASA volunteers.
