Evening Tours Highlight Moyer Judicial Center History

The Supreme Court of Ohio recently welcomed visitors for evening tours as part of the Court’s America 250 programming.
The Supreme Court of Ohio recently hosted evening tours in honor of America’s upcoming 250th birthday. This special event showcased the rich history of the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center, home of the Supreme Court.
From the courtroom paintings highlighting the Northwest Territory to the buckeye leaves on the exterior doors, the art and architecture throughout the Moyer Center feature many Ohio connections. Tours are led by experienced tour guides who highlight these references and relevant history.
In addition to seeing the building’s historical art and architecture, visitors were among the first to see the Court’s new Women in Law exhibit. The permanent exhibit in the Court’s Visitor Education Center features trailblazing women in Ohio legal history, including Ohio’s first female Supreme Court Justice, Florence Allen.
Free tours of the building and the Visitor Education Center are available during regular Court hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Email CourtTours@sc.ohio.gov to schedule a guided tour.
The Court is proud to participate in America 250-Ohio, a statewide commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Created in 2022, the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial is leading efforts to showcase Ohio’s unique role in shaping America’s story.
