- Habeas corpus
- Latin, meaning “you have the body.” A method of challenging someone’s continued confinement in prison and seeking an order for release.
- Testimony from a witness who did not actually see or hear what is being described. Unless an exception applies, this testimony is not admissible as evidence.
- A specific legal ruling or decision that a court makes or has made in a particular case.
- Home Rule
- The ability of local governments, such as cities and counties, to pass laws to govern themselves.
